Fuck the old City, Franny Lee was a diving cunt long before the foreigners brought that kind of thing over, Colin Bell and Mike Summerbee were alright though

I dunno Kenzo.

Since living in Liverpool, Evertonians in my (limited) experience seem to distance themselves as much as possible from their City rivals culture.

I think the only unison between the pair is regarding Hillsborough and now truth is out, most normal people will stand with Liverpool supporters regarding the tragedy.

I think you can count Liverpool and Everton fans as one in regards to their type of persona

Re: West Ham Man City love-in
I don't think we ever had any kind of similar relationship with Everton, despite them long being Liverpool's 2nd club supported by non glory hunters. I always felt negatively towards them. Especially when they were part of the'big 5'.

Remember when we done the swap with wardie and Bish and Trev used to be a group of 4 or 5 that used to come down occasionally and watch us play (if City never had a game)... big Bish fans... also a big mob used to drink in the Wakefield when we used to play them... big England mates with a few of the Southend/Shoebury lads..

"stopping all the knobhead clubs like liverpool/spurs/chelsea winning everything"

if you read what i said properly you would see i didn't say spurs have won anything just that man city are preventing this and that's why i like them HTH

Re: West Ham Man City love-in
They've always been my 'Norther Monkey team'. They were always like us; perennial under achievers (well until recently of course) but were still supported in numbers and just got on with it.

i have no problem with man city
but if they continue to be successful in the years to come and the plastic glory hunters appear then maybe it will get to me but at the moment rather them than any other so called big 6 team

Re: West Ham Man City love-in
Russ, that's true enough.

You don't really get glory hunting City fans, or not that I've seen. I've known two Man City fans in my life, both lived in Bow. One was Irish and the other a Manc who'd moved down and two thoroughly nice fellas.

Since moving up north I've seen one Man City fan, strangely though the bloke was in Liverpool.

Alvin, that is a film called The Keeper made last year about Bert Trautmann. Haven't seen it but mate says it is good
Bollocks to Man City. I was there when they didn't allow away fans in and had to endure them saying we were the worst side ever to play there. And southern wankers etc. So don't understand the love in with them.
And for those who mention Tottenham in the list of clubs that win everything. Really?

Russ of the BML 10:54 Thu May 2
Re: West Ham Man City love-in
Citeh and West Ham were for a long time very similar clubs. In the shadow of others, limited resources, very loyal support and with a club that holds a very traditional but romantic history.

There path has taken a different course obviously.

But for me there a few things, I recall games between us and them in the championship with 40,000 there. Huge games with them in the cups played and supported with great passion.

There's also a bit of a turn-over of players who were cult heroes for both clubs; Mark Ward, Bishop, Sinclair, Tevez, Zaba.

But more than anything for me; it is that down in the south you don't have glory hunting southerners supporting them. The two main culprints being Man Utd and Liverpool for I absolutely fucking despise with all my heart. And to see Man City pissing all over their fake dreams makes my heart beat a little happier.

I don't mind the Arse but I couldn't stand Wenger towards the end. Fucking despise Spurs and Chelsea. And so to see Man City pissing all over that horrible lot is just great.

Bloke I went to school with was a Man City fan, which was random for SE London. One night after a heavy one drinking Thunderbird he decided to paint "Munich 58" on a wall and it remained there for years, must have bemused the residents in the area.

Re: West Ham Man City love-in
personally I've always like city from when i was young, I remember watching jimmy grimble and liked the working class background behind city and saw similar parallels to west ham

I also like their blue moon song too, reminds me of bubbles.

As others have said, City are stopping all the knobhead clubs like liverpool/spurs/chelsea winning everything so i like them even more for that.

LeroysBoots 10:38 Thu May 2
Re: West Ham Man City love-in
Of all the "big" clubs they are far and away the most likeable

I dont begrudge their success 1 bit

Their fans had to endure decades of Man Utd on their faces winning everything, so good luck to them presently enjoying their new success

I also attened the 87 game, and it was a special bonding moment

Re: West Ham Man City love-in
Anyone of an advanced age remember seeing the 1956 cup final when Bert Trautmann played on in goal with a broken neck?
Amazing header by Bobby Johnstone to win it. Saw it on my Grandad's black and white telly and never forgotten it - even though me and Grandad were both West Ham.

Re: West Ham Man City love-in
I have some photos here of that 87 game at UP taken from the west upper when we were in front of away end swapping scarfs. They are/were the same as us but obviously there fortunes have changed. There support in the 80s and 90s was superb, massive away followings and main road was a great ground to go to in a proper footballing community. The love in only really remains between the older generations and they also loved us for giving it to there neighbours on a regular basis

cholo 9:41 Thu May 2
Re: West Ham Man City love-in
None of us have had to grow up with Southern glory hunting City fans who've never been to Manchester being smug about their bought success.

That's coming for the next generation.

Still prefer city to win than anyone else for the above reason.

Grumpster 9:33 Thu May 2
Re: West Ham Man City love-in
Their fan base is a shadow of what it used to be, as the majority of fans who may have had respect for us, have been replaced by dull happy clapping cunts, as per most of the teams who find success.

Only reason they get fairly decent press from us is because let's be honest, out of any of the clubs challenging regularly for trophies, they're the lesser of all of the evils and we'd rather them win anything than Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man Utd.

I didn't include Spurs in that, as basically they don't win anything anyway.

JLAP 9:29 Thu May 2
Re: West Ham Man City love-in
I was there in 87, on the pitch shaking hands with the City fans, “we bonded”. Old bill were proper cunts as we got a clip around the ear for shaking there hands, might as well steamed in they would have reacted the same.

Been a watcher of City ever since even with their dosh.
